John’s hobbies
Music
- Music was one of John’s greatest passions. From a young age, he was drawn to the raw honesty of Lou Reed and the energy of The Who — influences that stayed with him throughout his life.
- As he got older, his taste expanded into the dance scene. He didn’t just enjoy the music; he lived it. He bought his own decks and spent hours mixing tracks, losing himself in the rhythm and the craft of DJing.
- John loved the atmosphere of club nights and raves. He was a regular face, always up for the music, the people, and the moment. And of course, he was famous for one thing in particular: his tambourine. Whether he was on the dance floor or at a party, if John had that tambourine in his hand, everyone knew the night was about to get a lot more fun.
Bodybuilding & Weightlifting
John threw himself into weightlifting and bodybuilding with real dedication. Once he discovered the world of training, it became more than a hobby — it was a passion that shaped his daily routine.
He even built a home gym in his bedroom, turning it into his own personal training space. Most days, you’d find him in there lifting, pushing himself, and taking pride in every bit of progress he made. It wasn’t just about strength for John; it was about discipline, focus, and doing something that made him feel good in himself.
John’s wee dog – A Jack Russel named Muscles
- Muscles was John’s beloved wee dog — a lively Jack Russell cross who was never far from his side. The two of them were inseparable, and everyone in the local area knew Muscles just as well as they knew John.
- Wherever John went, Muscles went too. He rode with him in the lorry every single day, happily perched beside him as they travelled from job to job. At quarries, Muscles would leap out the window the moment the lorry stopped, tearing off to chase rabbits with all the enthusiasm in the world.
- Tragically, one day Muscles jumped from the cab too quickly and ran under the wheel. John accidentally ran over him, and Muscles sadly died. It was a devastating moment — one that stayed with John for the rest of his life. Losing Muscles broke his heart, because that wee dog wasn’t just a pet; he was his companion, his shadow, and a huge part of his daily life.
